But the person we’re looking for is the type of person who is going to want to read the rest of this article.

You see, we’re a small team and we’ve been consciously growing steadily, trying to find the right people at the right time. We believe we’re building something special. Not just the tech and product, but the team.

So let me explain a bit more…

Akord: what we do and how we do it

Akord’s vision is to safeguard and preserve humanity’s most precious data. That could be an individual’s family photos or terabytes of ancient texts from an heritage organisation.

Myself and Richard co-founded Akord in 2020 with a mission to inspire new possibilities through data ownership. We use technologies like cryptography and blockchain to secure data and give the keys that control that data to the user.

We are at an exciting time in our journey, as we have begun working with large organisations and businesses, as well as seeing growth from individuals and NFT projects in the web3 space.

Joining as the 8th person in the team means you will naturally have a large degree of influence over key decisions that will shape Akord as we grow.

We all believe passionately in putting something impactful and of real value, that’s designed and built to the highest standards, into the world. I believe as a team we think and work holistically. Our developers continuously input on design decisions and are encouraged to consider user experience and business context.

Being a small team, everyone must be engaged and excited by the bigger picture of what makes a startup successful, prepared to step out of their comfort zone and pick up whatever may need to be worked on.

We believe the only way to operate a small, fully remote team that has big ambitions is to work under an umbrella of total trust. We’re fortunate to have found highly capable people, who naturally take ownership of tasks without the need for constant direction. At Akord, you’re given a lot of freedom to figure out how you will deliver, but what you deliver must be of the highest quality.

What we’re looking for

For want of less hackneyed phrases, you’ll be expected to be a ‘self-starter’ and ‘hit the ground running.’

Above all we value motivation. If you align with our beliefs and mission, and are incredibly excited about the opportunity to join Akord, then this is more valuable than additional years of experience in so and so programming language.

You could be a great coder, but it may just not be a cultural fit. That’s why we’re open to anyone who may want to start part-time, test the waters, with a view to going full-time later. Enjoying working together will be just as important as the code you write.

Apply

If you read this far, then it should be clear that just emailing a CV or a link to your Github is not going to cut it.
